Normally a co-axial cable (as used for cable TV) suffices, for reasonably long distance for connection of Camera with Monitor. Wireless transmission can be achieved by using transmitter / receivers, but these are expensive and more prone to interference.

These days the signals can be communicated on the Internet as well as regular telephone lines.
