•  Outer walls of the house should not have any unnecessary or ornamental protrusions or projections etc which can provide a foothold to an intruder to climb over the wall or to the roof or a window or balcony etc.

•  Sun shades or similar other slabs in the outer walls, if unavoidable, should be topped with sharp edged glass splinters to prevent the intruders from using them to climb on them.

•  If there are pipes running up the outer wall, especially if these are passing close to a window or ventilator, these pipes should have barbed wire wound around them all along. If there are gaps between the pipe and the wall, this should be filled up with cement to prevent an intruder from climbing. Such a measure will not allow the intruder to have a grip on the back of the pipe and hence would not be able to climb.

•  If any of these steps are not feasible, then the entry points to which such projections might lead to, must be secured further.

•  In industrial establishments, it is quite common that the front door is guarded by a guard whereas garbage is piled up next to the boundary wall which itself acts as a ramp for climbing the wall.

•  In farmhouses or industrial units, it is common practice to have large holes in the boundary walls for sewerage. This acts as a simple entry point at night. Better to have grill in such hole that allows sewerage to flow but restrict the entry of intruder.
